Jewellery Care Instructions
Wearing Your Jewellery
Radiant Jewels are designed to last for many years to come but all precious jewellery will naturally tarnish and look dull if proper care have not been taken. Always protect your jewellery from knocks, scratches, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold to minimize these effects.
General Care Instructions
-
Remove jewellery when showering or bathing. This is particularly important when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water
-
Avoid wearing jewellery when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise
-
Never expose jewellery to household cleaning products, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions
-
Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray on the gemstones or pearls as it jeopardizes the integrity of the material
-
Remove jewellery when applying make-up, creams to avoid the residue getting into the texture or gemstone setting. Any residue dulls the shine of your ring
-
Keep away from extreme temperatures and humidity
- If you notice any gemstones moving, please have that repaired immediately to avoid any further damage or loss of stones
General Jewellery Cleaning
Using a soft, lint free cloth is an effective way to keep silver, yellow and rose gold jewellery looking shiny and lustrous. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching.
We highly recommend Town Talk Polish products such as
- There is a kit available that contains Jewel Sparkle tissues and gold polishing cloths.
* Home cleaning products do not replace professional cleaning.
You can purchase these or similar home cleaning products from any jewellery shop.
Gemstones
Gemstones are all on a different hardness scale. Depending on the gemstone, some can be more sensitive to scratches. Diamond is the strongest followed by sapphire, ruby. If a minor scratch does occur, it can be polished out in most cases. The gemstones hardnesses are classified based on Moh's Scale. Read more about understanding the durability of gemstones.
Since many gemstones are quite delicate, hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times unless using special products that are safe. We advise cleaning your precious stones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. Very porous stones such as turquoise and emeralds should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching.
Make sure to have a jeweller inspect your gemstone settings every 6 months to avoid any potential loss of gemstones. The settings can be delicate and move when knocked or caught in something.
We have no control over how the jewellery is being worn. Scratches and knocks are part of normal signs of everyday wear.
